Tutoring Experience

I have worked as a Maths tutor at Kumon for three years. There, I have developed valuable skills in communication and explaining maths concepts effectively to students which I can continue on at Central Tutors. I have previously tutored Higher Maths 1 to 1 and have experience in tailoring maths lessons to meet the requirements of the student as well as being organised and prepared for the lessons.

Tutoring Approach

Everyone learns in different ways and I believe it is so important to take that into account when tutoring. Preparation and planning is so important but adapting the lesson to suit the needs of the student is also crucial. I believe allowing the student to have autonomy on what they are learning is key to making most of a tutoring session. Putting what you have learnt into practice is important for consolidating your learning. I will save time at the end of the lesson to complete practice questions as not only will it help with consolidating but also assess how well material has been understood and help with the student’s confidence. I have recently been through the exam process at school and I understand the nerves and stress that can come in the lead up to them. I hope that during my tutoring we can progress towards those exams and we can work together to achieve a good pass!
