Hello! I’m Francesca, a dedicated English tutor in Glasgow, currently studying Law at the University of Oxford. My passion for reading, writing, and analysis inspired me to pursue law at one of the world’s top universities, and I now bring these same skills into my tutoring.
I specialise in SQA National 5 and Higher English, as well as Modern Studies. My goal is to help students improve their skills, gain confidence, and feel prepared for exams. I believe that success in English comes from more than memorising essays. It is about learning how to think clearly, communicate effectively, and engage with texts in meaningful ways.
Parents often describe me as approachable and enthusiastic. Students say I am supportive and explain topics in a way that feels clear and engaging. I aim to show pupils that academic success and personal interests can work together, making lessons both enjoyable and productive.
I have experience tutoring with the Inclusive Homework Club, where I taught National 5 Maths and English to pupils with additional support needs. This role gave me experience with one-to-one sessions and helped me stay fully up to date with the SQA English curriculum. It also allowed me to identify common challenges, such as low confidence, and find ways to address them.
Now, as a private English tutor in Glasgow, I focus on creating a positive learning environment. I adapt each lesson to the student’s interests and needs. For example, a football fan might explore a football article as a close reading exercise. By connecting lessons to personal interests, I keep students motivated while building strong academic skills.
My lessons focus on confidence, clear communication, and exam readiness. With the right support, every student can make progress and enjoy English.
