Maths Tutor in Glasgow – Achieve Your Best in Maths

Hi, I’m Daniel, a dedicated Maths tutor in Glasgow with a passion for helping students succeed. I recently completed a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Manchester, where my research focused on modelling debris flow motion down mountain slopes.

With over seven years of tutoring experience, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, from early secondary through to university level. Many of my students have improved their grades significantly, but just as importantly, they have gained confidence and a stronger enjoyment of Maths.

During the 2024/25 academic year, I tutored six students through Central Tutors — and every single one achieved an A or B grade in either SQA National 5 or Higher Maths. This 100% success rate shows my ability to prepare students thoroughly for the SQA system, combining strong subject knowledge with clear explanations and exam-focused strategies.

I specialise in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, particularly at National 5, Higher, and Advanced Higher level. I know how challenging these courses can be, and I use my experience and proven methods to guide students step by step. Whether your child is aiming to pass with confidence, secure top marks, or prepare for university-level Maths, I adapt lessons to suit their individual goals.

Parents describe me as patient, reliable, and highly effective. Students value my structured approach, clear explanations, and the way I make complex topics easier to understand. My aim is always to build both ability and confidence so that students feel motivated and ready for exams.

If you’re looking for an experienced, results-driven Maths tutor in Glasgow with a proven record of A-grade results in SQA exams, I would be delighted to support your child in reaching their full potential.

How My Lessons Make a Difference

Mastering maths involves more than memorising formulas. Instead, I focus on building understanding and developing problem-solving skills. By breaking down difficult topics into clear, structured steps, I ensure that students grasp each concept before moving forward. Furthermore, I tailor lessons to match individual learning styles, helping students learn in a way that suits them best.

For many students, maths can seem frustrating at first. Yet, with the right support, they gain confidence and start to see real progress. My teaching approach is patient, structured, and results-driven, meaning students not only improve their grades but also develop critical thinking skills that benefit them beyond the classroom.

Each of our tutors is carefully selected through a comprehensive vetting process. They aren’t just knowledgeable in their subjects—they’re experienced educators committed to student success.
Here’s how we ensure you’re in safe hands:

I have a range of experience teaching high school students both online and in-person. Over the past couple of years, I have run and assisted with a range of outreach events aimed at university applicants. During these sessions I have led groups ranging from a couple of students to 10-15 students, working with problem-solving questions. These events have had a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable to share ideas and is an atmosphere that I look to recreate when tutoring.

In 2021, I worked for the charity The Brilliant Club, offering online tutoring to help students catch up with missed lessons due to COVID-19.  One of the aspects that I enjoyed most about this role was the small groups allowing for the speed of teaching to be tailored to the students, allowing us to skip over areas in which they were more confident and focus on trickier topics.

As well as there roles I have previously tutored a student studying GCSE Physics and have worked at Kumon, helping pupils with problems they were struggling with. Throughout, my PhD I have also taught undergraduates in Maths and Computer Science.

In my tutoring I like to work through questions with students, offering help when they are struggling. This method allows students to become familiar with a topic whilst also building confidence around their problem solving abilities. It also helps the lessons to feel more interactive and gives me an idea about how the student thinks about problems, allowing me to tailor my tutoring style to fit them.
