I am a third-year Chemical Physics student at the University of Edinburgh, having achieved A*A*AA at A-level in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Further Maths. With years of focused study in these subjects, I possess a broad and in-depth understanding, enabling me to explain complex concepts using a variety of approaches. My tutoring style is adaptable, ensuring that each lesson is paced and tailored to meet the individual needs of my students. I am committed to creating an open, supportive learning environment, with a focus on building confidence and helping students excel.

- Tutoring Approach
A structured approach to me is very important, with an ordered plan taking into account the student’s strengths and the content they must cover allowing for relaxed and manageable sessions. Setting goals at the beginning of each session is also important, to keep the student on track and allow them to see the progress which has been made, encouraging confidence.
I recognise that each individual has a different way of learning and applying their knowledge. I always make sure to explain concepts and methods in a range of ways so that a student can find the way which works best for them and gives them the most confidence. As well as this, I make sure that pace followed is suited to the student.
Creating an open, supportive environment for learning is very important, and so I make sure to encourage students to ask questions throughout. If a student is unsure on a question, my first approach is always to ask them questions about the problem which will help them get to the answer themselves, encouraging their confidence in ability.
A focus on problem solving is also very important, and I find it is crucial to attempt exam questions with a student to make these less intimidating by attempting in a stress-free environment, and encourage the breaking down of a more complicated problem into smaller, more approachable parts. I find that for this it is important to encourage a student to analyse questions before attempting them, highlighting key words which may be helpful.
