I’m Sumit, a Chemistry tutor based in Falkirk, supporting students across Scotland studying SQA National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, as well as GCSE and A-level Chemistry.

I hold a PhD in Chemistry from Stockholm University and an MSc in Chemistry from Arizona State University. I also have more than 10 years of university teaching and research experience, including several years carrying out Chemistry research at the University of Edinburgh.

My academic background is particularly strong in inorganic and solid-state Chemistry. Throughout my university career, I have also supervised PhD students and trained researchers in the use of advanced analytical instrumentation.

I now use that depth of subject knowledge to help school students understand Chemistry more clearly, build confidence and prepare effectively for examinations. I focus on helping students understand the underlying scientific ideas rather than simply memorising answers, before applying that knowledge through structured practice and exam-style questions.

For SQA students, I support National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, adapting lessons to the level of the course and the individual needs of each learner.
