First Class Mathematics Graduate | Experienced SQA Maths Tutor

Hi, I’m Evie, a First Class MA (Hons) Philosophy and Mathematics graduate from the University of Edinburgh and an experienced SQA Maths tutor. Over the past three years with Central Tutors, I have helped students of all abilities develop confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve excellent results in Maths.

Throughout my education I have consistently achieved outstanding academic results, including 4 A*s at A Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, English Literature and French, followed by 11 Grade 9s at GCSE. Most recently, I graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Edinburgh and am now continuing my studies with a Master’s degree in Logic and Philosophy of Science at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU).

Having completed my own mathematical studies relatively recently, I understand the challenges students face and the importance of explaining concepts in different ways. Every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit the individual’s strengths, goals and preferred learning style.

Over the past three years I have built an extensive collection of teaching resources, revision materials and exam-style questions. Whether a student is rebuilding confidence, preparing for important SQA examinations or aiming for top grades, I create structured lessons that help them develop genuine understanding rather than simply memorising methods.

If you’re looking for an experienced Maths tutor in Edinburgh, or online Maths tuition across Scotland, I’d be delighted to help your child achieve their full potential.

Here’s how we ensure you’re in safe hands:

My tutoring experience began 5 years ago in high school, where I dedicated 2 lunch times a week to voluntarily tutoring younger years in Mathematics and English. Here I tutored individuals and small groups which demonstrated some of the many different ways in which people learn. I learnt to adapt my tutoring style to fit each individual. I have been tutoring with Central Tutors for over three years, supporting students studying National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Maths. During this time I have worked with students of a wide range of abilities, from those needing additional support to build confidence through to high-achieving pupils aiming for A grades. I have also delivered both one-to-one and small-group tuition, allowing me to adapt my teaching to different personalities and learning styles. Over the years I have developed a comprehensive library of teaching resources, worked examples and exam-style questions that allow me to tailor every lesson to the individual student. My goal is always to help students gain confidence, strengthen their understanding and achieve their academic goals.

Every student learns differently, so every lesson should be tailored to the individual. At the beginning of tutoring, I take time to understand each student’s strengths, areas for development and academic goals before creating a personalised learning plan. Lessons are structured around clear explanations, guided practice and increasingly challenging questions that develop both understanding and confidence. I encourage students to ask questions freely and to understand why mathematical methods work rather than simply memorising procedures. As examinations approach, we focus on exam technique, problem-solving strategies and developing the confidence needed to perform under pressure. Above all, I aim to create a supportive environment where students enjoy learning, believe in their abilities and achieve their full potential.
